Thin to thick materials can be cut at low power

Fiber lasers were claimed to be advantageous in cutting thin materials. The ENSIS has expanded the thickness range of materials to be cut while retaining the characteristics of fiber laser to cut thin material. The conventional wisdom about fiber lasers is overturned by Amada’s original and latest beam control technology installed on the ENSIS.

ENSIS technology is based on the “Variable Beam Control” unit capable of fully controlling and modulating the laser beam. ENSIS-AJ not only controls the beam diameter and focal point but changes the beam mode according to the material and thickness to be machined.

The Rotary Index is an integrated unit, allowing the cutting head to be positioned near the chuck—minimizing the dead zone. Bowed pipe or tubing can now be cut without vibration while maintaining accuracy from end to end.

The innovative design expands process range capabilities to cut a significantly wider variety of tubing and pipe. AMADA's ENSIS 3015 RI can process round, square, rectangle, C-channel, and angle iron, making it the most versatile Rotary Index laser cutting system available.

In Productivity mode - Realise a significant improvement throughput when cutting stainless steel and aluminium with nitrogen. And these performance levels, in tandem with lower energy consumption, can reduce processing costs by up to 75% in some instances.

Quality mode - Improves the surface roughness and resultant dross levels. Cut quality is assured by reducing surface roughness by approximately 50% when compared with a conventional machine. And can eliminate secondary operations such as deburring and reduce processing costs.

Quality mode

Kerf Control mode enables long-term stable processing during automated system operation. By controlling the locus beam, the kerf width can be controlled to be 2.3 times wider than general fiber lasers. In fact, the system is able to control kerf width for optimal efficiency based on the material type and thickness being processed.
